Governance and organisation

The governance of the International Bureau for Investment and Development (BIID) is based on a clear balance between strategic direction, technical expertise and operational management. This ensures that interventions are consistent with the guidelines of the World Development Association, whilst guaranteeing rigorous decision-making, transparent processes and accountability to institutional and financial partners.

This organisation promotes a coordinated approach to project management, from the initial assessment of projects through to the monitoring of commitments and outcomes.

The BIID’s operations are supported by a management team responsible for steering activities, supervising operations and representing the institution, as well as by specialised technical units covering, in particular, project structuring, financial engineering, investment mobilisation, economic analysis, strategic monitoring and partnership management. This organisational structure facilitates a coordinated approach to project management, from initial assessment through to the monitoring of commitments and outcomes.

Governance and control mechanisms complement this framework, notably through approval bodies, risk management procedures, compliance mechanisms and internal control systems. These enable BIID to maintain high standards of reliability, integrity and performance in the management of its operations and its relationships with investors, donors, technical partners and project promoters.
